“The way I think about and study (agro)ecosystems owes much to my experiences as a student in Global Resource Systems. While on campus, I had the opportunity to cultivate my broad interests and take coursework well beyond the purview of traditional agricultural degrees; for instance, I studied social movements in Latin America through an anthropological lens and cross-cultural uses of natural resources in the context of architecture. However, as nearly any other GRS alum will tell you, the definite highlight of the program was the international internship, in my case in Guatemala. I cannot emphasize enough how much I benefited personally and professionally from the experience of designing and executing a research project in a remote cloud forest as a junior. Finally, I deeply appreciate the sincere concern and conviction of the GRS faculty, without whom the program would be impossible.”
